A real eye-catcher
The Hegereiter house in Spitalhof
With its pointed dome, and the slim , circular stair tower with the graceful lantern style Hegereiter hood, this house in the middle of Spitalhofs is a real eye-catcher. It was built in the 16th Century by the famous Rothenburg stonemason, Leonhard Weidmann. The first floor served as the home of the hospital manager, who led the various operations in the infirmary areas, together with the infirmary champion. The hospital kitchen was housed in the entrance. In the inscription bearing the arms of the building, you can see the immortal mark of Leonhard Weidmann. He also built the remarkable Spital Bastion, which is located a few steps further towards Spitaltor.
